Burdett

The Burdett Neighbourhood Centre is in the heart of Mile End East opposite Steborn Primary School. It provides a wide variety of resident-led activities for the Burdett and Leopold communites, which reflect local needs.  We work in close partnership with organisations such as the Burdett and Leopold Estate Boards. These boards are made up of local residents who make decisions about issues affecting them. Other partners include St Pauls Way School, Steborn Primary School, Sure Start Children's Centre and Tower Hamlets College.

The Burdett Neighbourhood Centre has a diverse team of both Housing and Communities and Neighbourhood (CAN) staff who support local residents with issues  such as housing and benefits, employment and training and IT support.  The Burdett staff work with local people to provide the right kind of services and activities.

For more details and a current timetable of activities and events, please contact Josephine Adu at the Burdett Centre
. You are also welcome to pop in for a chat.

Cafe Reconnect

Cafe Reconnect opened in 2003 as a new community cafe/young people's centre. It was transformed from an old tenants hall in partnership with the Leopold Tenants' and Residents' Association. It is managed by Leaders in Community (LiC) and provides affordable, healthy food to people living and working in the area.

After school it is open for young people with structured activities as well as a place to come and relax. There are various facilities including a pool table, computers and games available.
LiC provide a timetable of activities, which also has details of special events and celebrations throughout the year.
