Getting a home
We work in partnership with
Tower Hamlets Council and our common housing register partner
landlords to make sure our housing stock is used effectively to
meet the housing needs of residents in Tower Hamlets.
All our housing stock is in Tower Hamlets and we
work closely with the council to assist their statutory
duties to secure accommodation for single people and families in
housing need.
Because we work with other social landlords we do not have our own waiting list. Instead we use a Common housing register. All applicants in Tower Hamlets are registered and
prioritised according to need and placed into one of the four community groups:
Group 1 – Community gain
Group 2 – Community priority
Group 3 – Community mobility
Group 4 – Community general
We also
operate Choice based Lettings to allocate our available homes to applicants on Tower Hamlets’ housing list in partnership with the other landlords.
This system gives you more choice about where you live. It was introduced to replace the old complicated system where you were awarded points depending on your housing circumstances.
Choice based lettings is based on the four community groups, which are graded according to housing need.
You will be placed in a band and we will take into account the time you've been registered.
