More homes for local families

24 November 2009
Poplar HARCA has started work on a development site in Lanrick Road to build 64 new homes for local families.

Out of the 64 new homes to be built, 50 family homes will be available under the affordable rent scheme and 14 homes for intermediate rent 'try before you buy' scheme. The development, still in its early stages, is being built in partnership with Telford Homes and is earmarked for completion in the summer of 2011.

The scheme will include spaces for business and a new safe amenity space. The scheme also launches a partnership project between Telford Homes and Culloden Primary School to help benefit the community. Details of the project will be available nearer to when a proposal is in place.

Neal Hunt, Director of Development and Regeneration at Poplar HARCA said: "The Development will be an opportunity for residents currently living in overcrowded accommodation to move to new homes more suitable for their needs."

The Lanrick Road development is part of Poplar HARCA’s ongoing commitment to reshape Poplar.  With reducing overcrowding a priority, Poplar HARCA is committed to building 500 larger family homes for local people in Poplar by 2011.
