New Homes for Leopold
25 February 2010Poplar HARCA has secured £6.4m from the Homes and Communities Agency to deliver 62 new affordable rented homes for the first phase of development on the Leopold Estate.
Working in partnership with developers Countryside Properties UK work will start in the summer.
The 62 new homes will be a mixture of properties including 1 and 2 bedroom homes as well as larger family homes.
Neal Hunt, Poplar HARCA’s Director for Development said, “The economic climate has meant that work on Leopold has taken longer than we had hoped. I particularly like to thank the residents of Leopold for their patience during this period. It is a very exciting scheme that brings high quality large family homes into the area. We have worked very closely with residents to secure this funding for Leopold.”
The Leopold development is part of Poplar HARCA’s ongoing commitment to reshape Poplar. With reducing overcrowding a priority, Poplar HARCA is committed to building 500 larger family homes for local people in Poplar by 2012.
