Poplar HARCA chair in Hall of Fame

30 March 2009
Christine Searle, Chair of the Poplar Board, was named as one of the 25 most influential people in housing over the last quarter of a century.

Christine, who lives on the Lincoln Estate, was put forward for this prestigious accolade by a panel of experts for the 25th birthday issue of Inside Housing magazine.

She joins people such as Lord Adebowale from Turning Point, John Bird, founder of Big Issue, John Prescott and Tory MP Sir George Young on the list of people that have made a difference to homes, peoples lives and communities across the UK.

Steve Stride, Chief Executive, remembers meeting her when stock transfer was suggested in the mid-1990s. "My impression was that I didn't want to fall out with this woman. But she was open to stock transfer because she saw it as a way forward.Congratulations on this honour from all at Poplar HARCA!"
