Resident inspectors graduate
19 August 2011Well done to 14 of our residents who have graduated as inspectors after doing an intensive seven-week course.
14 residents qualified as inspectors after a seven-week accredited training programme that enables residents to scrutinise our services in a more practical way.
This approach enables us to see our services from a resident’s perspective so that we can improve services and value for money. The course, delivered by Just Housing and accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) was introduced to involve residents in another way, and complements other ways to get involved such as estate boards, policy advisory groups and sounding boards.
The course content included housing regulators and regulation, equality and diversity legislation, service standards and value for money.
The resident inspectors will review a range of our services, starting with areas such as our website, communal areas, reception areas and service standard leaflets.
The group, thought to have one of the highest numbers of qualified resident inspectors in the country, celebrated their achievements at a graduation ceremony held on 3 August 2011 attended by Jim Fitzpatrick MP and Steve Stride, Poplar HARCA Chief Executive. Steve Stride said, “The group represent a range of ethnicities and ages – the youngest is 23 years old – so we are excited about the impact they will make on our performance and services.”
