If you are a Poplar HARCA tenant and you find it difficult getting around your home there may be adaptations and or equipment available to make things easier for you.
It may be “minor” adaptations (under £1,000) such as grab rails, handrails to stairs / steps etc. or “major” adaptions (in excess of £1,000) such as wet floor shower rooms, stair lifts, ceiling hoists, access ramps.
All you need to do is to be assessed by a London Borough of Tower Hamlets or NHS Occupational Therapist who will then forward us their recommendation so we can either arrange for:
(i) the works to be undertaken if a “minor” adaptation or
(ii) apply for a Local Authority Landlords Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) if it is a “major” adaptation which could help in providing us with up to £30,000 to help adapt your home.
If you are a leaseholder, you can apply directly to the Local Authority for a Disabled Facilities Grant for “major” adaptations and if “minor” adaptations are required, you will need to fund these yourself.
Please note if any adaptations are recommended Poplar HARCA’s written consent will be needed prior to any works being undertaken
