Poplar HARCA is partnering with Oomph! who will to train, mentor and provide equipment for staff and volunteers to deliver exercise classes for the over 50s from our community centres.

This opportunity aims to increase the social and emotional wellbeing for older people throughout the UK. Through enabling more people to take part in fun and inclusive and physical activity in their community that contributes towards improving quality of life, health & wellbeing.

WHAT DOES EXERCISE FOR OLDER ADULTS LOOK LIKE?

Oomph! trains and supports instructors to lead physical activity for older adults involving a wide range of ages and abilities where exercise is as inclusive as possible. Exercise is fundamentally movement, and the principles of these sessions are to have fun whilst increasing movement. This includes both seated and standing movements to music which can be energetic, relaxing or anywhere in-between. There's also plenty of games and activities centred around different sports including indoor boules, adapted volleyball, walking games and strength and balance training.
