The Elders Christmas lunch returned this year and residents enjoyed reuniting in the annual Christmas tradition, now in its 15th year.
Local café Bow Brew provided a well-received three course meal, which included festive favourites of roast turkey dinner, mince pies and stickie toffee pudding.
Guests received winter warmer goody bags with a blanket and chocolaty treats donated by the East End Community Foundation and Christmas cards from local school children. Santa stopped by to host a raffle, and there was singing, dancing and elves… so we’ve been told.
The lunch was cancelled last year because of the lock down so this year’s event was an extra special opportunity for residents to reconnect, especially for those who felt isolated because of the pandemic. Events such as these help improve morale and increase social connectivity.
We offer more activities for residents aged 60+ such as:
- Coffee morning at our community centres
- Knit and natter sessions
- Line dancing
- Arts and craft
