Nahim Ahmed has been awarded an MBE for services to young people in Tower Hamlets.
Nahim is a Youth and Community Engagement Manager for Spotlight, our creative youth service.
Nahim said about the investiture ceremony earlier this month, at Windsor Castle:
“It was a surreal moment, as right in front of me was a member of the Royal Family, HRH Prince Charles, presenting me with my MBE award.
These moments are unheard of where I am from and it did make me feel a bit nervous walking towards Prince Charles!
We had a meaningful conversation around youth services and what my plans are. I told him how my personal, professional and academic experiences all relate to youth and community work, and I want to combine these experiences to help bring positive sustainable changes to the communities I serve. He patted me on my shoulder, looking extremely proud, then shook my hand.”
An MBE is awarded for an outstanding achievement or service to the community which has had a long-term, significant impact and stands out as an example to others.
