Community Contact Tracer Volunteer

To volunteer as part of a small dedicated team, who provide testing and isolation support over the phone to Poplar and Bow residents to stop the spread of Covid-19.

  • To understand and be able to explain the importance of isolation, testing and contact tracing to stop the spread of Covid-19
  • To handle incoming calls from community members who may be experiencing Covid-19 symptoms
  • To advise community members, using guidance, on isolation and testing
  • To call and follow-up on community members who are isolating and/or testing
  • To help community members navigate the national test and trace service if needed
  • To signpost community members, using guidance, to appropriate local community services
  • To actively call contacts of confirmed positive cases
  • To record user details – including symptoms and consent – securely into our system
  • To maintain a professional, safe and non-judgemental environment for the community member callers and to report any accidents or incidents to the Volunteer Supervisor
  • To adhere to Poplar HARCA’s policies and procedures

We are looking for motivated volunteers who care about our community and stopping the spread of Covid-19.

Prior to undertaking this role you will be required to (virtually) attend a workshop, this will equip you with the knowledge required to successfully undertake this role. We will provide guidance which you will use when receiving and making calls to ensure you provide the correct information at all times.

  • You will have excellent listening skills and the ability to empathise.
  • You will be confident speaking English but it may not be your first language.
  • You will be confident operating a phone handset and using a computer.
  • Ideally you will have some experience of using a database

Hours

The service may scale up and down depending on the number of Covid-19 cases. It will run Monday – Friday and will need volunteers for morning (09:00 – 13:00) and afternoon (13:00 – 17:00) shifts.

Commitment

For consistency, we are asking volunteering to commit to at least one regular shift a week.

Volunteer Info

All applicants must be 18 or over.

All volunteers will be required to complete an application form, attend an informal virtual interview and supply two satisfactory character references.
