Description of tasks:
- Provide in-person or remote technical support to elderly clients for various devices (smartphones, computers, tablets, etc.)
- Assist with basic troubleshooting, software installations, and device setup
- Help seniors with managing and organising files, photos, and emails
- Guide seniors on using assistive technologies or accessibility features on their devices (screen readers, enlarged text, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and networking issues
- Provide recommendations for software updates and device maintenance
- Maintain clear, empathetic communication with elderly clients, ensuring they feel supported and confident
As a volunteer, you will have:
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and mobile devices (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android)
- Experience in providing technical support, particularly to older adults
- Patience and excellent communication skills, with an empathetic and respectful approach
- Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, non-technical manner
- Knowledge of basic cybersecurity practices and online safety tips for seniors
- Problem-solving skills and a customer-oriented attitude
- Experience working with a diverse and multi-cultural community
