Summer Festival: One off event

We’re hosting a Summer Festival packed full of FREE family attractions and local wellbeing activities.

St Paul’s Way Trust School, Well One, Poplar HARCA, Rise 2 Shine (Population Health Team), Bromley by Bow Health, Apasen, Poplar Union and other local community organisations are working together to bring you this year’s wellbeing themed festival. Some of the great things to do are :

FAMILY ACTIVITIES AND GAMES
• Face painting
• Balloon modelling
• Bouncy Castles and Inflatables
• Give-It-A-Go Sports
• Crafting
• Local food stalls and vendors

WELLBEING AND OTHER SERVICES
• Free health checks
• Diabetes screening
• Vaccinations
• Social Prescribers
• Health advice
• Meet your local wellbeing activity providers

  • Saturday 13th August – John McDougall Park, Westferry Road, E14 5TQ
  • Saturday 20th August – Bartlett Park, Poplar Union, 2 Cotall Street, E14 6TL
  • Saturday 25th August – Bromley by Bow Centre, St Leonards Street, E3 3BT
  • Saturday 3rd September – Locksley Community Centre, Dora Street E14 7TP
  • Saturday 10th September – Samuda Estate, Manchester Road, E14 3HB
  • Saturday 22nd September – Aberfeldy Community Centre, Aberfeldy St, E14 0NU
  • Saturday 24th September – Teviot Centre, 1 Wyvis Street E14 6QD

Hours: 10am – 5pm

*If you would like to volunteer for one event only, please state this on your application form or this can be discussed upon further communication.

Description of tasks

  • Support staff with organising and setting up equipment
  • Greet and welcome all attendees attending
  • Support all the different activities and steward the grounds
  • Keep a watchful eye over attendees, specifically young children to make sure they are safe/not in the way of any harm
  • Maintain communication with staff to alert them of any disruptions
  • Help staff pack away after the event has ended
  • Adhere to Poplar HARCA’s Health & Safety guidelines when volunteering with us

Note: We reimburse lunch and travel expenses

Who should we contact in an emergency?

References

Please provide contact details of two referees who are both willing to provide a character reference. This will involve answering questions on a range of topics from your strengths to areas for development and your time management. Unfortunately we cannot accept references from family or friends. If possible, at least one referee should know you from work, education or volunteering. There are lots of people suitable to provide references, if you are struggling to think of anyone suitable please get in touch and we can discuss your options.
