Virtual Children’s Digital Drama Club Assistant

We are looking for an adult volunteer to attend an online children’s drama club to monitor the behavior of the children attending, support the tutor if needed and to uphold Poplar Union’s children’s safeguarding policy.

The volunteer will need to log in to Zoom, ideally via an ipad/laptop/computer (as opposed to a phone), so the maximum number of participants can be visible on screen at all times.

The assistant will then attend the session as a viewer, less so as a participant.

The club is for 6-10 year old’s with an interest in drama/acting.

The live Zoom sessions will be during 4pm-5.30pm, every Tuesday.

Dates: Tuesdays 2nd February- 23rd March 2021

Requirements

The volunteer must have a reliable internet source, access to Zoom, willingness to keep their camera on during the sessions and would preferably access the workshops through a laptop/desktop/ipad, as opposed to a phone.

What can we offer?

  • We aim to provide a meaningful experience for you as a volunteer.
  • You will receive a basic induction
  • You will have a named PH Contact & Poplar Union Contact
  • Poplar Union will provide 1 free ticket per week to another PU event whilst you are volunteering with us.
  • We will provide you with an honest reference regardless of how long you are with us.
  • Whilst a DBS check is not compulsory, it is preferred.

All volunteers are required to complete an application form, attend an informal interview and give two referee’s details. You may also be required to undertake a criminal record check which we will pay for. If successful your volunteer role will begin with a 1 month trial period.

Who should we contact in an emergency?

References

Please provide contact details of two referees who are both willing to provide a character reference. This will involve answering questions on a range of topics from your strengths to areas for development and your time management. Unfortunately we cannot accept references from family or friends. If possible, at least one referee should know you from work, education or volunteering. There are lots of people suitable to provide references, if you are struggling to think of anyone suitable please get in touch and we can discuss your options.
