Volunteer Communications Assistant

Poplar HARCA is a Housing and Regeneration Community Association in East London that provides homes and support to residents. Our goal is to create a thriving environment for people, communities, and businesses. Alongside housing endeavours, we work alongside like-minded collaborators, residents and community stakeholders to offer health and wellbeing activities across our community buildings.

As a volunteer communication assistant, you will be working on a wide range of projects focused on raising the profile of Poplar HARCA community activities using various communication methods.

Date: Monday – Thursday (Flexible)

Time: Between 10am – 4pm

Hours: One / two days per week

Location: Poplar HARCA 155 East India Dock Road, London E14 6DA

Description of tasks:

Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting engaging content for social media
  • Copywriting
  • Supporting the production of internal and external newsletters
  • Creating promotional graphics using design tools in line with Poplar HARCA brand guidelines
  • Monitor communication output
  • Taking photos and videos to use for marketing purposes
  • Assist in the production of materials for digital and print distribution
  • Support Communication and Digital Services Officer with ad-hoc communication task
  • Excellent written communication skills essential
  • Can-do attitude and a problem-solving ability
  • Creative thinker and inquisitive
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and able to change priorities quickly
  • Willingness to get out and connect with people to build effective relationships
  • Strong IT proficiency essential

All volunteers are required to complete an application form, attend an informal interview and give two referee’s details. You may also be required to undertake a criminal record check which we will pay for. If successful your volunteer role will begin with a 1 month trial period.
