Our Estate Boards are made up of Poplar HARCA residents who act as a voice for the local community.
What do Estate Boards do?
Estate Boards work closely with Poplar HARCA to identify and tackle issues raised by the local community, such as Housing, ASB, Caretaking and Estate Maintenance. They also help run community events and activities.
Estate Boards meet to consider:
- How services are being delivered
- How services can be improved
- Future plans, projects and initiatives
- How to spend an allocated Estate minor works budget.
How do Estate Boards run?
Members of each Estate Board (including a Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson represent the views and interests of Poplar HARCA residents. They are governed by a set of rules that outlines the aims and objectives of the Board and how it is run.
What is the eligibility criteria to join an Estate Board?
To join an Estate Board, applicants must:
- Be over 16 years of age
- Live in a Poplar HARCA property
- Not be a member of a household where two others are already Estate Board Members
- Not live in a block/street where four other households are already Estate Board Members
- Not have a breach of tenancy or lease that has, or could, result in a legal notice being served (e.g such as being in rent or service charge arrears)
Why should I get involved?
Being on an Estate Board is a great way to represent the views of your local community, meet your neighbours and help deliver community projects.
