The Mayor of London joins the Spotlight studio

We are delighted that Poplar HARCA has been awarded £767,635 to fund ‘Get Involved’, a 3 year partnership project which will see the creation of 3 youth hubs in 3 targeted geographical wards in Tower Hamlets: Bow East, Mile End & Bromley South.

The money comes from a new £13m fund to be invested in local community projects that help young people fulfil their potential and build a better future.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, visited the Lansbury Spotlight Centre to announce the new fund and meet some of Spotlight’s talented young people. He watched performances of their original songs, spoken word and rap, before getting involved in the studio and helping out with some sound engineering.

Steve Stride, CEO of Poplar HARCA, said: “We’re really excited to be working with the Mayor’s Young Londoners Fund to enable Spotlight to roll out this successful programme across three priority areas in Tower Hamlets, inspiring the next generation and supporting them to succeed.”

Spotlight will launch its ‘Get Involved’ Programme of Creative, Active and Inspiring opportunities for young people in January 2019. For more information check out the website or contact
