Poplar HARCA's Green Programme was launched in 2012 to bring together the different strands of work supporting local environmental sustainability and help Poplar become a greener place to live. It's been a busy time since...

For Poplar's community:

  • Grown our community gardens to 41, working with our CaN colleagues
  • Built the blossoming Poplar & Bow Green Network for all those engaged in local sustainability
  • Launched the UK's first wholly electric car club

For Poplar's homes:

  • Secured £1.4m funding for improving home insulation
  • Installed £210,000 of solar panels on communal roofs in Phase 1
  • Saved residents money on their yearly bills

For everyone:

  • By 2013, we were awarded Sustainable Housing Provider of the Year
  • Reduced our carbon footprint year-on-year
  • Introduced a Poplar HARCA Annual Green Service Plan

Coming soon:

  • We're installing more solar panels on another 60 roofs in 2016
  • New pocket parks
  • Air quality improvement work
