Goodbye Bow Community Hub

23/03/2023

We'll be handing Bow Community Hub back to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets when our contract with them comes to an end on 29 March. The council, who owns the building, is now planning to manage the centre directly.

For the past four years, we’ve loved welcoming local people to Bow Community Hub, along with our fantastic community partners.

It’s become a vibrant venue for residents to find information and advice services and take part in wellbeing activities, adult learning and social groups. Local Poplar residents, like Rooksana, have enjoyed coming together, sharing experiences and building relationships. She says:

"We're like a family here. The support from staff at the hub has been excellent; they've been so welcoming and given us access to so many opportunities we wouldn't have had. I have lived here for years and hadn't engaged in local services, but because of Poplar HARCA, I attended a course and fitness sessions continuously."

We’ve been joined by over 20,000 people since opening the Hub in 2019, and offered over 30 different services to 800 regular visitors. It also served as a distribution centre for digital devices during the pandemic, stored excess supplies in local food banks, and provided a befriending service for elderly locals.

"We've had such an enthusiastic response from partners and residents throughout our time at the Hub, and thank everyone who's supported us. We're sad to see it go, but we're proud to have served the local community and will continue to be committed to helping in whatever way possible. We look forward to seeing what comes next for Bow Community Hub."
