Knock on the door from somebody claiming they can help with repairs?

31/08/2023

Let us know. Recently an increasing number of residents have reported door-to-door cold callers claiming to be inspectors who can help with repairs issues.

You should never let anybody you don’t know and you’re not expecting into your home.

We’re currently seeing an increase in cold calling from people claiming to be inspectors who can help you make a claim about disrepair in your home.

Unfortunately, this is a well-known and deceptive practice, which could end up leaving you to deal with lengthy legal battles, long delays with repairs, and massive court fees.

If you have a repair issue in your home, please always speak to us first. Once we know, we’ll do our best to get it sorted.

If you’re not happy with how we’ve responded to your repair request, you can let us know by making a complaint.

We know we don’t always get things right, so we have an established ‘Resolve and Review’ approach to complaints which gives you the opportunity to have your issue addressed in a way that feels appropriate to you.

If you’re not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint, we can help you to take your issue to the Housing Ombudsman. They’ll make a judgment on your repairs claim, without charging you or making you pay for court fees.

You can also access independent help and advice from Citizens Advice and Shelter.
