There are lots of different services offering support and advice across Tower Hamlets and the surrounding area, but sometimes it can be tricky to track down exactly what you need. We're here to point you in the right direction.

Our services

Paying your rent

If you’re having money troubles and are worried about paying your rent this winter, please give us a ring on 0800 035 1991. We’ll chat with you about setting up a payment plan you can afford. The sooner you get in touch, the sooner we can help you.

Safety and wellbeing

If you think you or someone you know is at risk, we can help. Our dedicated Safeguarding team offers support in a range of areas, including domestic abuse, hoarding, family support and financial abuse.

Jobs and training

Our team at The Hive offers free employment support and training for people in our community. We can help you to find job opportunities, boost your skills, and build your confidence.

Support for young people

Our youth service Spotlight offers free programmes for 11–19-year-olds to help them get creative and stay active. Spotlight also offers a safe and warm space for young people to hang out and get hot meals this winter.

Free hot meals every Monday from 3pm

Health Spot, a free GP service for young people in Tower Hamlets, is her to assist anyone not feeling 100%.

Looking after your home

We’re here to help you take care of your home. If you need something repaired please get in touch and we’ll sort it as soon as we can.

Depending on how serious the issue is, you might be able to fix it yourself. Check out our handy how-to repairs guides. We also have some useful tips on how to reduce energy and keep your home warm this winter.

Beat the winter blues with us

Our community centres are opening their doors for longer during the colder months. If you want a place to keep warm, please drop in for a hot drink, a chat, games or just to sit somewhere cosy with friends and family. Everyone’s welcome.

How can these services help me?

The organisations listed in this section can help you with information about benefits and tax credits, including your eligibility. Depending on your needs, some of these services can also give you financial advice and guidance on employment and training opportunities.

Limehouse Project

Whether you need a little help understanding how the latest government policy changes are going to impact you and your family, or you’re trying to decide what steps you need to take to secure your future ambitions, the Limehouse Project offers a range of services for all your social welfare needs.

Offers one-to-one advice and guidance in English, Bengali and Somali.

Appointments available to book between 2-5pm, Monday to Friday.

The Bromley by Bow Centre is a community charity that offers over 40 services and activities for residents in Tower Hamlets, including free advice on a wide range of financial issues such as benefits, housing and debt.

Clean Slate helps people to improve their financial wellbeing, including guidance on money management, finding work and accessing online services.

Food and emergency support services

How can these services help me?

If you’re worried about being cold or hungry, there’s a variety of local organisations who can provide you with access to healthy, affordable food and emergency support. We’ve also listed a couple of services offering friendly and safe spaces for those who need a warm place to spend time when it’s cold.

Community Pantry

Our partners at More Life Home will be helping local people and families to access free food.

  • Every Friday, 2 – 4pm at the Feldy

Breaking Bread

Spotlight is hosting a a weekly family-style dinner for young people aged 11 – 19. Come along to enjoy a hot meal, learn how to cook and chat with others.

First Love Foundation

The First Love Foundation helps families to access emergency food and financial support.

Neighbours in Poplar (E14 residents only)

Neighbours in Poplar offers community care for people aged 50+ in the E14 postcode, as well as support for families during the holidays. It also hosts a lunch club during the week, and delivers Christmas meals.

Food Stores

Tower Hamlets Council has set up several Food Stores across the borough to support people who cannot afford enough food for themselves or their families.

You can pick up a week’s worth of food in exchange for a small membership fee, and receive support with:

  • housing
  • benefits access
  • employment and more.

How can these services help me?

The law can be difficult to understand but getting some guidance doesn’t need to cost you a fortune. A range of services are on hand to help you navigate your rights and obligations when it comes to housing, debt, benefits, immigration and more.

 

Citizen’s Advice Bureau

The Citizens Advice Bureau provides free specialised legal advice and representation when needed.

They cover various areas including:
