Aberfeldy set to benefit from new faith centre

22/11/2023

The Aberfeldy community are set to benefit from a new faith centre, after we signed a historic agreement with the Aberfeldy Islamic Cultural Centre (AICC).

On Monday 20 November 2023, we signed a lease agreement with the AICC, to secure a new mosque site at 2a Ettrick Street in Aberfeldy, the current GP Practice.

Representatives from both organisations joined together to mark this significant occasion with a special blessing of the new premises.

This move has been made possible as part of our regeneration of Aberfeldy, in partnership with EcoWorld London. The signing of the lease is evidence of the regeneration’s commitment to enabling communities to decide what facilities and infrastructure they want and need.

The AICC will move into the new premises once the Aberfeldy GP Practice transfers to its purpose-built new location in Aberfeldy Square in 2024.  The move creates a stand-alone mosque facility for the community that will allow them to cater for an expanding congregation.

It also provides greater opportunities for the whole community, creating a cohesive masterplan which includes more retail opportunities and affordable, family size homes.

The new faith centre is the latest in a series of new facilities in Aberfeldy. In partnership with EcoWorld London, the brand-new Feldy Community Centre opened this year, alongside a new nursery, parks and green spaces, complementing more affordable homes for local people.
