With EcoWorld London, we’re building more than 1,000 new homes and creating a place that ‘feels like a village’ on the Aberfeldy estate.

We’ve listened to what the established community here wants for the non-residential areas and their community: a friendly, welcoming place for everyone which is clean, safe and secure. This feedback has played a key part in shaping the buildings and places Aberfeldy Village will provide.

  • Over 1,000 new homes: A mix of social rent, shared ownership, private sale and private rent.
  • Health centre: An upgraded GP Practice health centre, now open.
  • Faith centre: A new faith centre for prayer and reflection.
  • Aberfeldy Meanwhile scheme: Before new retail space can be built, Aberfeldy Street has been given an eye-catching makeover with new shop-fronts, lighting and street art through the Start Here programme. New and existing businesses are also being supported with rent-free periods, grant opportunities and business support to make sure the street remains a vibrant community, social and commercial hub.
  • Retail spaces: The new retail outlets on Aberfeldy Street include a new grocery store, café, pharmacy and more.
  • Community centre: A new centre the Feldy, double the size of the planning consent requirement, opened in 2023.
  • Green spaces: Courtyards, a linear park creating East India Green, seating areas, trees, plants and water features.
  • Energy efficient: The development’s heating and hot water is provided by a centrally located, on-site energy centre.
  • Safer, sustainable transport routes: Improved links for walking and cycling

Works began on site in 2012, and are taking place over six phases.

Aberfeldy New Masterplan

The Next Phase Begins
The Aberfeldy New masterplan has been approved and we’re moving forward with the next stage of development. This exciting step will deliver more affordable homes, new shops and services, and improved public spaces. Every detail has been shaped by what matters most to you.

What’s Happening Next?
Jura House will be transformed into modern business spaces. These will welcome the shops and services currently based in the temporary units on Aberfeldy Street. The move is planned for early 2026, ensuring spaces that meet their needs while keeping the character of our community.

Supporting Local Businesses
We’re working closely with local businesses throughout this transition. Some are preparing to move into the new spaces, while others have chosen different paths that suit them best. Whatever their choice, we’re here to help them succeed.

Keeping the Community Connected
During construction, clear signage and hoardings will help you find your favourite local spots. We know you love the colourful, kantha-inspired patterns on the temporary units, so we’re exploring ways to carry that legacy into the new spaces.

Building on Success
You’ve told us how much you value the new businesses and services in Aberfeldy Square. This next phase will build on that success, helping businesses grow and thrive and creating a better offer for everyone.

What to Expect
In the first few months, you’re unlikely to notice much change. We’ll keep disruption to a minimum, and all works will follow Considerate Constructors guidelines to reduce impact on daily life.

Your Aberfeldy, Your Voice
This is about delivering what the community asked for and making Aberfeldy Village even better for everyone. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way. This is your Aberfeldy, and we’re proud to keep delivering the changes you’ve asked for.

Working together with the whole community

The local community have been at the heart of these plans from the start. We want to make sure we continue to answer questions and address any concerns you might have.

Listening to a range of views and opinions is really important to us. There are lots of opportunities available for you to get in touch and new members of the Resident Steering Group (RSG) are welcome at any time.

“Poplar is a diverse, rich community – one that I’ve been part of for 42 years. The Start Here programme has offered a great opportunity to me to introduce a boxing club for the kids in the area. The high street has long been in need of somewhere for the kids to go.”

“We need places people can come together.”
