The Teviot community will once again help to host the Our Teviot Festival, a free event on Saturday 24 September.
Taking place between 12 and 4pm at the Teviot Centre and Manorfield Primary School, the Our Teviot Summer Festival will include stage performances, children’s activities, live music and food.
Last year’s event saw over 500 local residents coming out to celebrate the end of summer.
Among the many attractions this year, will be:
- Musical performances by young people from Spotlight creative youth service
- Performances from the ballet school and steel band from Manorfield Primary School
- Karate and taekwondo demonstrations,
- A bouncy castle
- And an inflatable slide!
There will be plenty of refreshments provided by The Works cafe, an ice cream van, and a tea area for everyone to enjoy.
Local residents will also have the opportunity to share their views on how regeneration should benefit their community at the Teviot Regeneration Hub. With The Hill Group, the developers for the Teviot regeneration, we’ll be on hand to share information about the exciting plans that have been shaped by the community so far.
A number of local community partners and groups will be at the festival including;
- Sunny Jar Eco who’ll deliver a workshop using natural, environmentally friendly products
- The London College of Fashion who will host a leaf printing workshop
- Dr Bike who’ll repair and service any bicycles that people bring along.
Residents can also have fun helping to create a new community mural.
As well as the Our Teviot Festival, with Hill, residents and local partners we are delivering many more community activities including;
- An elderly coffee morning
- Money Management Workshops and a drop-in clinic at the Teviot Centre
- Community Cycling sessions
- Health and fitness gatherings
- Community litter picks
- And a popular repair café which teaches people how to upcycle and mend rather than buy new.
Regeneration plans for Teviot include more than 1,750 new homes, as well as green spaces and play areas, community and faith facilities, and improved infrastructure.
