Tisma

Communications Support Volunteer

Originally from Spain, Tisma is pursuing a master's degree in Environment and Development at King's College London whilst assisting Poplar HARCA's community centres with creating and building awareness and engagement through social media.

“I really enjoy the feeling of working for a community and building friendships alongside. Also learning new skills and developing the skills that I had before.

Volunteering helped me find a balance between my studies and work, and boosted my self-confidence further by taking me out of my comfort zone and environment.

Volunteering helps us develop social sensitivity and collaborate in getting the best attitudes of people. Volunteers tend to have a more positive vision of the world that we live in as we work to improve it. We have hope because seeing the changes that result from our work can be a small contribution, but it slowly grows and multiplies.”
