Community Works for Health

We run this training programme in partnership with Barts Health NHS.

Course details

You’ll take part in two weeks of training. This includes an accredited Level 2 in Mental Health First Aid and training on getting a job in the NHS.

On this course you will cover topics such as:

exploring mental health
understanding how to support individuals with mental ill health
understanding a mentally healthy environment

Once you complete your training, you’ll gain access to exclusive vacancies within Barts Health NHS Trust, including entry-level positions in healthcare, lab assistance, phlebotomy, and administrative roles.

To join this course, you must meet all of the following criteria:

18 years old or older
be a resident of either: Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney or Waltham Forest
you must have the right to live and work in the UK

Healthcare Horizons Participant

Hamidah took part on one of our NHS programmes, Healthcare Horizons, and later also completed Employability Skills and Equality and Diversity.

Nicole completed three training courses and received extensive employment support from one of our advisors, Alex. She also went on to volunteer with us.

Mehmet lives in Hackney. He’s 29 and is visually impaired. Due to his visual impairment, he’s found it hard to get a job despite having a degree. He’d been searching for a job for 4 years before coming across the Healthcare Horizons programme.

Mohammed is 20 and lives in Tower Hamlets. He took part in Healthcare Horizons, a programme that combines accredited and unaccredited training and gives participants access to internal apprenticeships within the NHS.
