Community Works for Health

We run this training programme in partnership with Barts Health NHS.

You’ll take part in two weeks of training, including an accredited L2 in Mental Health First Aid and training on getting a job in the NHS.

On this course you will cover topics such as:

Exploring Mental Health
Understanding How to Support Individuals with Mental Ill Health
Understanding a Mentally Healthy Environment
NHS values
Interview prep
Writing supporting statements
NHS recruitment processes

After completing your training, you will get access to ring-fenced vacancies within Barts Health NHS Trust in entry level positions such as health care, Lab Assistant, Phlebotomy and administrative roles.

This programme is exclusive to Tower Hamlets, Hackney, City of London, Waltham Forest, and Newham residents.

Healthcare Horizons Participant

Hamidah took part on one of our NHS programmes, Healthcare Horizons, and later also completed Employability Skills and Equality and Diversity.

Short Courses

Nicole completed three training courses and received extensive employment support from one of our advisors, Alex. She also went on to volunteer with us.

Mehmet lives in Hackney. He’s 29 and is visually impaired. Due to his visual impairment, he’s found it hard to get a job despite having a degree. He’d been searching for a job for 4 years before coming across the Healthcare Horizons programme.

Mohammed is 20 and lives in Tower Hamlets. He took part in Healthcare Horizons, a programme that combines accredited and unaccredited training and gives participants access to internal apprenticeships within the NHS.

Rabea took part in a programme called Healthcare Horizons. It combines accredited training in Common Health Conditions and training in employability skills with access to apprenticeships within the NHS.
