Residents helping shape a safer, friendlier community

08/07/2025

A group of residents have been working closely with us to help improve how we deal with antisocial behaviour. By sharing their experiences and ideas, they’re helping us develop a clearer, fairer, and more effective approach to tackling antisocial behaviour in our community

Why residents are leading the way

We’ve been working with six residents (a mix of tenants and leaseholders from different backgrounds) to explore how we handle antisocial behaviour and how we can improve the way we do it.

By sharing their own experiences, residents are helping to shape a new policy that feels fair, easy to understand, and works better for everyone in our community.

What they’ve been working on

Since starting, the panel has shared lots of great ideas about how we can make things better. So far, we’ve had a workshop and two “Meet the professionals” sessions, where residents got the chance to speak directly with partners like the Police, the Tower Hamlets Community Safety team, and our own Community Safety team.

A big part of the conversation has been around the language we use – making sure that key terms are clear and accessible, so that everyone understands what they mean and how the policy applies.

There are still a few sessions to go before the panel wraps up at the end of July, and no final decisions have been made yet. But the conversations so far have already had a big impact.

What’s coming up next

Once the panel’s sessions are complete, we’ll use their feedback to draft a new Antisocial Behaviour policy. This will go to the board for review and, once it’s approved, we’ll share it with everyone in the community, so you know what to expect and how it will help make our neighbourhood a safer and more comfortable place to live.

We’re really grateful to everyone on the panel for their time, ideas and commitment to making a difference. We’ll keep you updated as things move forward.
