How Anna Peneva shapes our digital voice

02/03/2026

If you’ve ever read one of our newsletters, scrolled through our website, or spotted a well designed leaflet around the estate, chances are Anna has had a hand in it. As our Digital Content Producer, she works with the Communications team to turn big ideas, complex information and creative briefs into content that feels clear, friendly and helpful.

Where her journey began

Originally from Bulgaria, Anna joined Poplar HARCA four years ago after to moving to England in 2018. Since then, she’s helped transform how we communicate with residents and staff across our community.

Anna has always been drawn to media and creative work. Her path started with an internship in social media marketing and e‑commerce, which soon led her deeper into graphic design.

“I’ve always been interested in media. I used to make videos as a hobby, which evolved into me joining the YouTube Partner Programme and later earning a degree in Film Production.”

Her curiosity and willingness to try new things eventually led to a career that brings all her creative interests together.

A role that’s part creative, part problem solver

“Being a Digital Content Producer means I’m a jack of all trades,” Anna says. “There’s video editing, web development and SEO, a little bit of photography and copywriting, and a whole lot of graphic design. It’s not all digital either – I also create print designs for leaflets, signage, banners and more.”

Her days are rarely the same.

“In the morning, I could be discussing merchandise design and internal engagement, filming and editing a TikTok video after lunch, and then designing a newsletter or a presentation in the afternoon. Every day is different – and I love that.”

Behind the visuals sits a lot of listening and translating.

“The most surprising part is how little of the job is just ‘making content.’ My goal is to build trust, prevent confusion, and help people feel more informed and included.”

Designing with residents in mind

One project Anna is especially proud of is HARCALife, our digital resident newsletter. Under her creative direction, engagement with HARCALife has risen well above sector averages, and it was highly commended at the UnAwards for Comms2point0 in 2024.

Anna says:

“Over time, it’s grown into more than just a newsletter. It’s one of the main ways we share updates and help people feel connected to their community.”

She’s also currently working on a sign for the opening of the Teviot pontoon, designed with the local wildlife in mind.

Working together to tell stronger stories

Collaboration is a huge part of Anna’s work. She works closely with teams who spend time out in the community every day – for example she recently partnered with our Estate Services team on a Cleaner, Greener Estates campaign to remind residents how to dispose of their rubbish properly.

“We teamed up with our Estate Services team, who are out on the ground keeping our estates looking their best,” Anna says. “But it was also important to hear what residents and local people had to say – so we interviewed one of our community gardeners, Amran, and a group of local children. Their voices helped shape the campaign and grounded it in real experiences.”

Life beyond creativity

Outside of work, Anna is the unofficial photographer at every family event. She also loves to travel and was lucky enough to visit China in January. The trip included climbing the Great Wall, watching the Shenzhen light show and riding the tram up Victoria Peak in Hong Kong.

“It was such a thrill,” she says. “The best way I can think of to start the year!”
