David Waddell

Member of the Services Committee

David is a senior business journalist for BBC News. He produces Business Today and Talking Business on the BBC News channel and frequently reports live on breaking news. He has interviewed interesting figures such as Idris Elba about his ‘smart city’ vision for Sierra Leone, India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal about international trade, and the former Irish President Mary Robinson about the economic implications of climate change.

He lived on the Burdett Estate for nine years between 2002 and 2011, and served on the main board and the Finance & Audit Committee during that period. Since leaving east London, David remains inspired by the holistic resident-focused community ethos of Poplar HARCA. After a long break, he wanted to return to support this mission. He brings his journalistic curiosity and insight to committee work, along with a determination to make an impact upon the lives of residents.

David has served on the leadership team of his local church and helped to found the Epsom & Ewell Refugee Network. He enjoys offshore sailing and cycling.
