Spotlight #GetActive Volunteer

As a #GetActive volunteer, you will encourage young people who attend Spotlight into physical activity through supporting sports and recreational activities taking place at the centre.

Our #GetActive strand runs youth programmes across the year, including activities such as football, boxing, calisthenics and more. We also run events such as a Sports Day in the summer months.

Your supervisor for this role will be the #GetActive Lead at Spotlight.

Location: 

All sessions will take place in person at Spotlight, 30 Hay Currie St, E14 6GN. 

What will you do? 

  • Assist in setting up and running various sports and physical activity sessions  
  • Encourage participation from all young people regardless of ability level 
  • Help coach basic skills and techniques 
  • Support the organisation of tournaments and special events 
  • Promote the importance of fitness and healthy lifestyles 
  • Ensure activities are safe and inclusive for all participants

  • Basic knowledge of at least one sport or physical activity 
  • Understanding of inclusive approaches to physical activity

Please note that for this role you will have to be at least 19 years of age. As part of our safer recruitment process you will also need to complete an enhanced DBS check (which we will cover the cost for) and provide two references. 

Suggested time commitment: 

  • A minimum of 2 hours per week (sessions typically take place on weekday evenings, but times alter during school holidays) 
  • Initial 3 month commitment with opportunity to continue
