Spotlight Youth Support Volunteer

As a Youth Support Volunteer, you will help to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for young people at Spotlight Youth Centre with particular focus on supporting the Games Room and general centre activities.

Your supervisor for this role will be the Youth Worker In Charge at Spotlight.

Location: 

All sessions will take place in person at Spotlight, 30 Hay Currie St, E14 6GN. 

What will you do? 

  • Welcome young people to the centre and help new attendees feel comfortable 
  • Supervise and engage with young people in the Games Room and Cafe space 
  • Facilitate friendly game play and ensure fair use of equipment 
  • Support young people in following centre rules 
  • Build positive relationships with young people through informal conversations and activities 
  • Assist staff with setting up and clearing away equipment and spaces 
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment 
  • Support centre wide events and activities as needed 
  • Provide new members with tours of the centre and support them to understand our programme offer 
  • Feedback to senior leaders on Safeguarding or concerns

Please note that for this role you will have to be at least 19 years of age. As part of our safer recruitment process you will also need to complete an enhanced DBS check (which we will cover the cost for) and provide two references. 

Suggested time commitment: 

  • A minimum of 2 hours per week (sessions typically take place on weekday evenings, but times alter during school holidays) 
  • Initial 3 month commitment with opportunity to continue
