Meet your team

Housing Officer Anisha Miah
I’m a people person and my role allows me to build relationships and add value to the community. I want to help those who might need a bit of extra support for a better quality of life.
Rents Officer Farhana Akther
I help residents with rent payments through payment plans and offering tailored support to those who need help managing their finances. It's fulfilling to see how small, practical interventions can make a significant difference.
Community Safety Officer Farjana Begum
As someone who grew up in Tower Hamlets, I understand the issues residents are experiencing. I want to make a difference and tackle antisocial behaviour to ensure a safer community for all residents..

Neighbourhood priorities

Noise

We understand the adverse effects of noise nuisance on residents’ quality of life.

Most noise reports we receive are related to household noise rather than antisocial behaviour. Where that is the case, our Community Safety team will offer mediation as the resolution.

Where noise is considered antisocial, such as persistent and excessively loud music, we will follow our antisocial behaviour process and will take enforcement action when necessary.

If you are reporting noise, you will be asked to use the Noise app and send us evidence of the issues. If you don’t have a smart phone to use the Noise app, we will install noise monitoring equipment for a week.

Pets

Many of our residents view their pets as beloved companions, and having pets can bring many benefits for physical and mental wellbeing. We promote animal welfare and support our residents in providing excellent care for their pets.

It’s important that pets are properly managed. In line with legal requirements, all cats and dogs must be microchipped.

We will address any issues that arise from pet ownership, such as pets causing disturbances, being aggressive, damaging property, or leaving messes in shared spaces.

Banned breeds

In the UK, it’s against the law to own certain types of dog. Whether your dog is a banned type depends on what it looks like, rather than its breed or name.

It’s a criminal offence to own or possess an XL Bully dog in England and Wales unless you have a valid Certificate of Exemption.

It’s against the law to:

  • sell a banned dog
  • abandon a banned dog
  • give away a banned dog
  • breed from a banned dog

If you believe that your neighbour or someone in the community is doing any of the above it is important that you report it to the Police online or call 101 if the dog is out of control.

Investing in your area

Community Chest Fund

Community is at the heart of Teviot regeneration. We want to make sure benefits to local people are more than just bricks and mortar.
That’s why we have been running the Poplar HARCA and Hill community chest fund, with £427,500 already invested to support projects that make a positive impact on the local
community.
Projects supported in 2024/25:
  • Carbon Champions: Energy saving advice and guidance and emergency supplies to local people in need
  • Clean Slate: money management advice service at the Teviot Centre
  • Leaders in Community: Beekeeping training course at the Teviot Centre, Front of house and community outreach employment support, a Food Co-op at the Teviot Centre, a Teviot Sisters community support group
  • The Hive: Employability and digital skills training
  • Water sports on the Limehouse Cut
  • Spotlight: Introductory programme for year 7 students at Langdon Park School
  • TAG Fit and Feisty: Social group and fitness classes for over 50s

Teviot Festival

We have revivied the Teviot Festival over the next three years. The annual event hosts around 500 people each year for a range of free family activities, performances and food and drink stalls.

Greener spaces

We’re working in partnership with R-Urban Poplar eco-civic hub to support them to upgrade the space and deliver more free community programmes, with funding from London Borough of Tower Hamlets and Mayor of London.

We’re also creating polytunnels and food growing space on the roof of Manorfield Primary School
