Community Works for Health

We run this training programme in partnership with Barts Health NHS.

Course details

You’ll take part in two weeks of training. This includes an accredited Level 2 in Mental Health First Aid and training on getting a job in the NHS.

What you will be covering

On this course you will cover topics such as:

  • exploring mental health
  • understanding how to support individuals with mental ill health
  • understanding a mentally healthy environment
  • NHS values
  • interview prep
  • writing supporting statements
  • NHS recruitment processes

Additional support

By completing this course, you’ll gain access to free employment support. You’ll work one-on-one with an employment advisor to:

  • improve your CV
  • search and apply for jobs
  • prepare for interviews
  • and more!

Once you complete your training, you’ll gain access to exclusive vacancies within Barts Health NHS Trust, including entry-level positions in healthcare, lab assistance, phlebotomy, and administrative roles.

Eligibility 

To join this course, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • 18 years old or older
  • be a resident of either: Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney or Waltham Forest
  • you must have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Further eligibility may apply according to the NHS *
