Behind the scenes with Simran Soin, our Chief Finance Officer

27/01/2026

Welcome to our ‘Behind the scenes’ series – where we introduce our newly formed Leadership team and explore how they’re shaping the future of our homes, services and communities.

Strong homes and services rely on strong finances. That’s where Simran Soin and our Finance team come in. In his new role as our Chief Finance Officer, Simran plays a crucial role in ensuring HARCA is financially secure, resilient and ready to keep delivering exceptional homes and services for residents – both today and long into the future.

So what does Simran do?

Simran’s focus is clear: maintain HARCA’s long-term financial stability.

“My job is making sure the organisation stays in good financial shape,” he says. “That way, we can continue delivering for our residents for many years to come.”

Because finances touch every part of HARCA, collaboration is key. Simran works closely with our other Chief Officers – Lizzie Williams, Chief Operating Officer; Paul Dooley, Chief Development Officer; and Babu Bhattacherjee, Chief Communities Officer – as well as the wider leadership team.

“We coordinate with each other to deliver our plans across the organisation,” Simran explains.

What motivates Simran

For Simran, everything comes back to people – the residents, communities and colleagues who shape HARCA’s purpose.

“What excites me most is delivering our vision for our residents and local people,” he says.

He stays closely connected with teams who speak with residents every day, making sure their voices inform decision-making. And he believes open and honest conversations are essential for building trust.

“It’s about open dialogue,” he says. “Being clear about what’s happening, what the plans are, and how we’ll deliver them.”

The big challenge in housing

Across the sector, one challenge stands above the rest: building enough homes to meet demand.

“That’s why staying financially strong matters,” Simran says. “It gives us the ability to deliver new homes through regeneration.”

A major focus for him is keeping our regeneration projects moving at pace.

“I want to make sure our regeneration schemes stay on track,” he says. “They helps us deliver much-needed new homes and other long-term improvements for our communities.”

A leadership lesson to live by

The housing world moves quickly – and leaders need to move with it.

“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the ability to respond quickly and adapt to a changing environment,” Simran says. “It keeps the work interesting. It’s certainly never dull!”

His advice for future leaders?

“Embrace challenge. Don’t be put off by change. Stay adaptable and keep your eyes on what you’re trying to achieve.”

And finally… something you might not know

Simran and his family love animals, a lot. They share their home with seven dogs, a Persian cat, as well as ducks and chickens.

“It’s a full house,” he says. “If I wasn’t working in housing, I’d probably be working in a zoo!”
