Have your say on estate parking

07/03/2023

The parking survey is now closed, thank you to everyone who took part.

We had over 3000 responses and the clear preference was to keep allocated parking bays, with enforcement – so that’s what we’ll do.

The next steps

  • From 1 July, the cost for a permit for Poplar HARCA tenants and resident leaseholders will be £6.20 each week.
  • From 1 July, the cost for a permit for everyone else will be £7.44 each week.
  • Poplar HARCA tenants and resident leaseholders with a blue badge have priority, and are eligible for one bay with a locking post, free of charge.
  • Poplar HARCA tenants and resident leaseholders have priority for other bays.
  • Permits are no longer restricted to electric vehicles. You can apply for a bay for any vehicle.
  • We have extended the contract with the current parking contractor, PCM, to run until the Government introduces new rules.
  • When we know when and how the rules are changing, we’ll consult you about whether you want to pay more to continue with enforcement.
  • We’re unable to fit parking posts in every bay as it would cost us over £1 million. If you’d like to fit your own post, please get in touch with us to request written permission before doing so. If you’ve recently fitted a post, please get in touch to apply for permission. We’ll be removing posts fitted without our permission.
