‘Tis the season for mince pies, mistletoe and mulled wine. Whether you’re a Christmas super fan or a grouchy grinch, there’s something on for everyone in East London this winter.

Here’s our round-up of the best local events and activities to help you get stuck into the festive spirit. Find hidden gems by shopping local, connect with others at our community centres, or check out Santa’s sleigh at the market.

Up your gift wrapping game

Help your gifts to stand out with a FREE Furoshiki wrapping with bath salt gift workshop  at the Aberfeldy Centre on Thursday 24 November from 10:30am -12.30pm.

Be savvy and shop local this year

Save money and get your presents sorted early by grabbing a great deal this Black Friday at Chrisp Street Market on Friday 25 & Saturday 26 November.

Head down to the Pop Makers Market on Sunday 4 December to support growing businesses this Christmas. With over 20 traders, there’ll be plenty to choose from.

Make a day of it at the Bow Road Winter Market on Sunday 11 December from 11am. Celebrate with local artists, check out festive stalls, and get involved in a free art workshop.

Beat the winter blues with us

Every Tuesday & Thursday, 12 – 5pm at the Linc Centre

Every Wednesday & Friday, 11am – 5pm at Bow Community Hub

Drop in for a hot drink, a chat, games or just to sit somewhere cosy with friends and family. Everyone’s welcome!

Festive fun at Chrisp Street Market

Head down to Chrisp Street Market on Saturday 3 December between 12 – 4pm for Makers Day and get stuck into Christmas crafts, cookie & card decorations and a special elf hunt with prizes.

On Saturday 10 December, Santa’s eco-friendly sleigh and his little helpers will be injecting some magic into the market between 12 – 4pm.

Come along on Saturday 17 December from 12 – 4pm for a Christmas Fun Day filled with games, treats and a grand PRIZE DRAW! You’ll be entertained with a reindeer hunt, Santa’s sleigh and selfie area.

Celebrate Christmas with us

Come along to the Teviot centre for our Elders Lunch and Social on Tuesday 13 December from 11am – 1pm. Open to everyone aged 50 and over. To book your space, please call us on 0207 987 5764.

Or join our annual Elders lunch at the St Paul’s Way Centre on Monday 19 December from 1- 4pm to enjoy a three-course meal by Bow Brew Café. There’ll be dancing, music and a raffle. Spaces are limited so please call us to book your space on 0207 510 5600. Tickets are £5.

Fill your tummy at the Teviot Centre

Fancy some hot soup? Pop into the Teviot Centre between 5 – 16 December from 9am – 4pm and grab a soup for just £1.50. Or get yours for free after 4pm!

You can also pick up a free hot drink on Wednesday 14 December between 3.30-5.30pm.

 Have ‘Snow Much Fun’ at Aberfeldy

Looking to entertain the whole family? Come along to Aberfeldy Street on Tuesday 13 December from 3-7pm. Enjoy carol singing, festive food and drink, arts and crafts, a follow your senses trail and a prize for best festive dressed!

Run off the chill

Spread some Christmas cheer by donning a Santa hat and signing up for RunThrough’s annual run in Victoria Park on Sunday 18 December. Who says you need to wait for New Year to get fit?
