Stroudley Walk is almost ready

03/12/2024

Great news, Bromley-by-Bow! A major milestone has been reached in the transformation of Stroudley Walk. We’ve officially reached the highest point of construction, which is a big milestone in a project that’s set to bring a fresh start for the community.

On Wednesday 27 November 2024, we celebrated this exciting moment with a topping out ceremony. This is where local leaders, including Deputy Mayor for Housing Tom Copley, joined more than 50 community members and partners to mark how far we’ve come. The atmosphere was filled with pure excitement and optimism for what’s ahead.

What’s in it for you?

Stroudley Walk isn’t just about new homes- it’s about making life better for everyone in Bromley-by-Bow. When the project wraps up, we’ll have 274 new homes, with 115 of them being affordable. That’s more people getting the chance to live in high-quality homes right here in Tower Hamlets.

But it doesn’t stop at housing. Here’s what else is coming your way:

  • green spaces where kids can play, and you can unwind
  • a community hub which will be your new go-to spot to gather, make connections and link up with local services
  • shops and other local spaces – to make everyday life easier
  • improved public spaces, designed with you in mind. It will be perfect for strolling and socialising

Built on teamwork

This transformation didn’t happen overnight, and it certainly didn’t happen alone. It’s been a massive team effort involving some key members:

  • Muse: Our development partners- who are experienced place makers, working to deliver this new neighbourhood
  • McAleer & Rushe: The construction experts working hard to bring it all to life
  • Greater London Authority (GLA): Providing the support and funding to make this dream a reality

Tom Jackson from Muse summed it up perfectly at the event:

“The dedication and hard work of Poplar HARCA, the Greater London Authority, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, and McAleer & Rushe have been vital in delivering this 50% affordable housing development, which will make a lasting difference for the local community."

Community

This project is about much more than buildings. It’s about creating a place where people can thrive. Deputy Mayor Tom Copley said it himself:

“This development supports our mission to deliver the genuinely affordable homes that Londoners need and deserve, helping communities to thrive. The new and improved green spaces, retail and community facilities at Stroudley Walk will play a vital part in transforming the local area- creating a better, greener London for everyone.”

What’s next?

New affordable homes for Tower Hamlets residents are getting closer every day. Soon, the scaffolding will come down, and Stroudley Walk will be transformed into a lively, welcoming neighbourhood.

There will also be 32 shared ownership apartments, including one and two bedroom options and four wheelchair-accessible two bedroom homes. Sales will launch in early February 2025. Shares will be available from 25%, with prices released in January 2025.

We’re excited for what’s to come and can’t wait for you to experience it. Whether you’re moving into one of the new homes, grabbing a coffee at the community hub or simply enjoying the new park, there’s so much to look forward to.
