Tower Hamlets hero: Dave Tull bags Civic Award

24/04/2025

We’re proud to share that Dave Tull, Engagement Manager in our Housing team, has been honoured with a Tower Hamlets Civic Award for outstanding voluntary service to the community.

Outside of his day job, Dave dedicates countless hours at the weekends and after work to supporting residents across the borough—particularly older people and those who may need extra support. From delivering food shops and helping with medical appointments, to assisting families with home moves and volunteering with local charity, Neighbours in Poplar, his efforts truly go above and beyond.

“Dave’s voluntary efforts reflect a deep-seated passion for community service that goes far beyond any job description.”

DIY, deliveries, and doing good

Dave leads weekend garden clear-ups with GoodGym, helps residents with DIY jobs, and transports furniture for those who may be setting up their home and don’t have access to private transport. Dave has also led community fundraising events in his own time, bringing together hundreds of residents and raising thousands for causes like food security, mental health, and emergency support.

One of his standout initiatives connects younger and older residents through intergenerational projects, such as storytelling workshops, collaborative gardening projects, and shared cultural events, all designed and delivered in his own time.

“Thank you Dave for everything you do for us. I can think of no one more deserving of this award."

Poplar resident and friend, Fran Jefcoate

Dave’s voluntary work is a powerful reminder of the impact one person’s kindness and determination can have. Congratulations, Dave — and to all the deserving recipients who also received a Tower Hamlets Civic Award, this year.
