Way of Life appointed to manage Balfron Tower

Located in Tower Hamlets, the Grade II* Listed, the brutalist 28-storey building was originally designed by Ernö Goldfinger. Following a complete restoration in partnership with Telford Homes, it now provides 140 modernised one to four bedroom rental apartments in an exciting and growing part of east London.

In line with Goldfinger’s vision of ‘communities in the sky,’ Balfron Tower’s refurbishment saw the transformation of the original concrete service tower into modernised living space, together with new communal spaces called ‘Third Spaces,’ with the intention to create a strong sense of community for its residents. Balfron Tower residents will enjoy a wide range of facilities, including a cinema room, table tennis room, gym, private dining and cookery room, as well as a roof terrace and work-from-home space. ­­

The building’s award-winning and heritage-led regeneration, guided by architects Ab Rogers Design and Studio Egret West, has transformed its accommodation to provide homes matched to 21st-century living while paying homage to its 20th-century design status and meeting sustainability goals. Refurbishing the pre-existing building has associated circular economy benefits, by reducing the use of materials and minimising emissions embedded in building materials.
