Plan your summer locally with festivals, waterside activities and community events taking place across Poplar and Bow.

A packed programme of festivals and community events is coming to the area this summer, including the Aberfeldy Summer Festival, Our Teviot Festival and Festival of Britain celebrations across Poplar and Bow. There’ll also be waterside activities at the new Teviot pontoon, creative workshops and family events taking place throughout the season.

Whether you’re looking for something active, creative or simply a good day out close to home, there’s plenty happening across our neighbourhoods during the warmer months.

Festival of Britain celebrations return to Poplar

The Festival of Britain brought visitors from across the country to the Lansbury Estate in Poplar. To celebrate its 75th anniversary, a programme of exciting events and activities will take place across the summer, shining a light on the area’s past, present and future.

Try waterside activities at the new Teviot pontoon

This summer marks the first full programme of community activities at the new Teviot pontoon. Open days, taster sessions and youth paddlesport programmes will give local people the chance to get out on the water and try something new close to home. Activities will run throughout the summer, including special events during half term, Father’s Day and the Thames Waterways Festival at Poplar Union. Youth paddlesport sessions will also take place weekly across July and August.

Our Teviot Festival

Saturday 4 July, 12–4pm
Teviot Centre, Wyvis Street E14 6QD

Our Teviot Festival returns for another year, bringing together local stalls, food, music, family activities and Festival of Britain themed fun. Visitors will also be able to try paddleboarding and canoeing sessions from the pontoon. The annual festival has roots going back to the 1970s and continues to bring the community together each summer. We’re delivering the Teviot Festival with our development partners, The Hill Group. It’s part of our shared commitment to creating lasting benefits for the community alongside the upcoming regeneration. Leaders in Community are also working with us to organise the event with and for local people.

Aberfeldy Summer Festival

Saturday 13 June, 2–8pm
Aberfeldy Village, E14 0XA

The Aberfeldy Festival comes to East India Green, with an afternoon of music, creativity and community from . Expect live music performances, creative workshops, face painting, games and activities for all ages, plus the Aberfeldy Dog Competition. All in the heart of Aberfeldy Village.
