Level 2 Certificate in Digital and IT Skills

This qualification is a step up from the Level 2 Award we deliver. You will develop a deeper understanding and skill set in the core areas of digital skills that are essential in modern day employment.

 

Course details

This is a Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Certificate in Digital and IT Skills.

On this course you will complete four units:

Digital Skills Career Progression:  this unit will provide you with an understanding of the importance of digital skills in the workplace and how changes in employment have led to an increase in demand across a number of sectors. You will learn about the different types of job roles where digital skills are required, and the characteristics valued by employers to establish a successful career in today’s digital economy. You will also identify your own career/progression goals and plan how you will develop their digital skills to meet their intended goals.

Social Media Marketing: in this unit you will learn how social media marketing is used to promote products and services. You will understand how digital technologies, channels and platforms are used in social media marketing campaigns and develop ideas and strategies to create and present a social media marketing campaign proposal for a particular product or service.

Cybersecurity: in this unit you will investigate the accidental and malicious security threats that exist to IT systems and data. You will learn about system vulnerabilities and the tools and techniques used to protect users from risks and potential damage, including loss of data, loss of data integrity and unauthorised access to data.

Data Management and Analytics: in this unit you will explore big data and how it is analysed and manipulated by organisations to predict patterns and trends. You will also learn about data analysis techniques and how they can be used to collect, cleanse, manipulate and present findings.

Where can this course take me?

This will help prepare you for employment in roles in the creative and digital industries, but is also designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital skills are required, such as finance, marketing, manufacturing, and more.

After this, you may decide to go onto a Level 2 diploma, or even higher onto a Level 3 qualification.

 

Eligibility 

To join this course, you must meet all of the following criteria:

• live in London
• have the right to live and work in the UK
• be 19 years old or older as of 31 August 2026
• not be in full-time education
• not be on a student visa, skilled worker, or sponsored visa
• be unemployed or low income (earning below £28,860 per annum)
