Level 2 in Health and Care

Get the qualifications you need for a job in health and social care, with progression pathways through to NHS programmes.

This course is perfect for learners preparing to work (or looking to upskill) in the health and care sector! It will introduce you to the core areas of working in the health and care sector as you develop your knowledge of working safely, effectively and inclusively in health and care.

If you’re looking to work in the NHS but aren’t quite ready yet, this course is a great stepping stone. Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll have a guaranteed interview for Barts Health NHS programmes, which can provide access to:

  • Entry level NHS job opportunities
  • NHS work placements

 

Course details

This is a Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award in Health and Care, starting 2 November 2026.

Course timetable:
Week 1
  • Monday: 9:30am–3:00pm in class
  • Tuesday: 9:30am–3:00pm in class
  • Wednesday: 9:30am–3:00pm in class
  • Thursday: Home study
  • Friday: 9:30am–3:00pm in class
Week 2
  • Monday: 9:30am–3:00pm in class
  • Tuesday: 9:30am–3:00pm in class
  • Wednesday: 9:30am–3:00pm in class
  • Thursday: Practical one-to-one session
  • Friday: 9:30am–3:00pm in class

Eligibility 

To join this course, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • live in London
  • have the right to live and work in the UK
  • be 19 years old or older as of 31 August 2026
  • not be in full-time education
  • not be on a student visa, skilled worker, graduate or sponsored visa
  • be unemployed or low income (earning below £28,860 per annum)
