Celebrate International Women’s Day with us

International Women’s Day, on Saturday 8 March 2025, is dedicated to recognising the achievements of women and reflecting on how we can keep working towards equality in our community.

There are a number of events and activities taking place across our centres, offering you lots of opportunities to get together with local woman and celebrate female empowerment through creative workshops, sports and talks.

Sisters in Strength

Join this gathering for women to gain knowledge and understanding of the Islamic faith.

Self-defence class

We’ve partnered with Tower Hamlets Council’s Sports Development team to provide a self-defence class for women.

Power of Response

A session celebrating the voices of women through workshops, talks, and networking. It will highlight how women have come together to create positive change in the community.

 

Oitij-Jo Collective

Oitij-jo is a partnering with Poplar Union, Republic London and Rich Mix to bring ‘Creative You’ drop-in sessions for local women to come and create a self-portrait.

Women in Sport

Check out this exhibition by the Muslimah Sports Association (MSA) featuring portraits by a female Muslim photographer, showcasing women in in sports like swimming, basketball, golf, boxing, and ballet.

Trapped in Zone One creative workshop

Come along for a creative workshop focusing on the theme ‘Accelerate Action’, collectively creating works towards an equal society in solidarity for International Women’s Day.

 

Tower Hamlets Cycling Club for Girls

A cycling club open to girls and young women aged 6 -24 years old (beginners only).
