Course Details
This is an NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace.
During the course, you’ll cover topics like:
- understanding mental health and its impact
- practical skills for offering supporting people with ill mental health
- tips for creating mentally healthy environments

Where can this take me?
We often run this course as part of our Community Works for Health and Healthcare Horizons programmes. These are great options if you’re interested in working for the NHS. Occasionally, we offer it as a standalone qualification too.
This is a great qualification to have for all jobs where you will be interacting with the public, but particularly roles where you may be more likely to come across vulnerable people or those with support needs. For example, it may be useful if you are working in/wanting to work in:
- customer service
- housing
- voluntary sector
- sport and recreation
- hospitality
- travel and tourism.
There’s many different qualifications you could progress onto. Including:
- Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
- Level 2 and 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
- Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia
- Level 2 and 3 Certificate for Working in the Health Sector
- Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care
- Level 3 Certificate in Stroke Care Management
- Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships in Health & Social Care.
Eligibility
To join this course, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- live in London
- have the right to live and work in the UK
- be 19 years old or older as of 31 August 2026
- not be in full-time education
- not be on a student visa, skilled worker, or sponsored visa
- be unemployed or low income (earning below £28,860 per annum)
