Improvements to your home

Find out about the improvements we make through planned works, from new kitchens and bathrooms to safer door entry systems.

When we carry out planned works, we want the improvements to make your home more comfortable and safer to live in, as well as more efficient to run.

Kitchen replacements

We want your new kitchen to be a modern, practical space that’s built to last and works for your everyday life.

When your kitchen is due for replacement, we’ll make sure it’s installed to a high standard. It’ll have the number of cupboards and plug sockets your home needs, in line with the Government’s Decent Homes Standard.

We know every home is different, so you’ll be able to personalise your new kitchen by choosing from a range of finishes, including:

  • cabinet door colours, to give your kitchen the look you want
  • handles and worktops from our selection
  • standard-sized wall tiles in a choice of colours
  • anti-slip flooring in a range of colours to complement your new kitchen
  • full redecoration, with a choice of wall colours from our range

Bathroom replacements

When your bathroom is due for replacement, we’ll install it to a high standard, with quality finishes designed to make everyday life better.

Your new bathroom could include:

  • a modern white bathroom suite for a clean, timeless finish
  • a choice of wall tiles or panels in a range of colours, so you can add your own style
  • anti-slip flooring for a safer, more practical surface
  • full redecoration with moisture-resistant paint made for bathrooms
  • an extractor fan to improve ventilation and help reduce damp, mould and condensation

Windows and doors

We’re investing in windows and doors that make your home warmer and more secure, while helping it use less energy.

  • Where needed, we’ll fit fire doors known as FD30s, which can hold back fire for up to 30 minutes to help protect you and your neighbours
  • All fire doors will meet fire safety requirements and building regulations, so you can feel confident your home is protected
  • We’re investing in high-performance windows that help keep, the heat in, making homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer
  • We’ll use modern technology and materials wherever we can, so your windows and frames perform well and last longer

We want these improvements to deliver lasting value. That’s why every installation is carried out to the required standards, with quality and safety in mind.

Boilers and heating

Where we’re upgrading boilers and heating, we aim to:

  • install A-rated combi boilers where suitable, with an energy efficiency rating of over 90%
  • fit smart heating controls where appropriate, so you can control your heating and keep track of how much energy you use
  • fit thermostatic radiator valves, the dials on your radiators that let you control the temperature in each room

Roof replacements

We’re investing in roofs to keep your home safe and weatherproof for years to come.

  • We’ll replace roofs that can no longer be repaired cost-effectively, taking their age and condition into account
  • We’ll carry out the work safely, which includes putting up full-height scaffolding and fully stripping the old roof
  • We aim to install roof systems that improve the insulation, airflow and help stop moisture building up in loft spaces
  • These works are designed to help roofs last longer and stand up to the weather, keeping homes comfortable and energy efficient

Door entry systems

Your safety and security matter to us. That’s why we’re investing in upgrading and installing new door entry systems for homes and communal areas.

These improvements are designed to make it safer and easier for you to get into your home, while helping to keep out anyone who shouldn’t be in your block.

Whether you’re coming home after work, letting a friend or family member in, or using your communal areas, the new and improved systems will make everyday access safer, simpler and more reliable.

Where needed, we’ll:

  • upgrade door entry systems that are old or no longer meet your needs
  • install new systems in buildings that need better security and controlled access
  • improve reliability to help reduce faults and problems getting into your building
  • make systems easier to use, with your needs at the heart of every improvement

A secure entrance is an important part of feeling safe in your home and community. These improvements will give you greater peace of mind by helping to control who can enter your building.

Making homes more energy efficient

We’re also investing in improvements that help homes use less energy and stay warmer, like insulation and better ventilation.
