Achievements and awards

We’re proud to say our projects, people and partners are consistently recognised for their achievements. With the enthusiastic support of our staff and residents we will continue to constantly improve.

2015

UKHA Outstanding Landlord of the Year

Our commitment to creating opportunities in Poplar was recognised when we came away as overall winners from the UK Housing Awards, the most prestigious and well-respected awards in the social housing sector.

BALI Awards

The regeneration of the Brownfield Estate was a winner in the Hard Landscaping category. The challenging project was all constructed while the estate was occupied and involved high levels of resident liaison. The estate board commended the high quality of the work.

Community Impact Awards

Our Energy Champion project won the Greener Living Award for its innovative, resident-led approach to community engagement.

2014

SLCNG ASB Awards

Our very own Brownfield Estate Board won the Resident and Community Award.

The Board, made up of local residents, worked closely with the Poplar HARCA ASB Team and was recognised for its outstanding work in building a safer, cohesive community.

Sustainable Housing Awards

Continuing our winning green streak, in 2014 our resident Tom Gleed won Green Tenant of the Year. Tom was recognised for his work transforming the ‘Greening Brownfield’ community garden into a thriving, sustainable space for residents of the Brownfield Estate. Tom’s award was decided by public vote.

2013

Sustainable City Awards

We won in the ‘Greening the Third Sector’ category for demonstrating excellence in sustainable development.

Sustainable Housing Awards

In 2013 we won Social Housing Provider of the Year. We’re committed to approaching the sustainability agenda as broadly as possible, shaping our own business as well as providing opportunities and support for local residents, across all parts of the sustainability spectrum.

2012

Sustainable Housing Awards

Poplar HARCA won two national Sustainable Housing Awards in 2012 for our contribution to making Poplar and Bow a more sustainable place to live.

The Sustainable Housing Partnership of the Year was awarded to us alongside Tower Hamlets Homes, Institute for Sustainability and Optimum Consultancy for the Eco Homes project which installed energy saving technology, previously unused on a domestic scale, into 16 households.

Poplar HARCA also won the Transformation Award for the redesign of Leopold Park, part of the regeneration effort of the Leopold Estate. This project transformed a previously unimaginative green space into a thriving children’s play area with an attractive water feature, and was greatly welcomed by local residents.

2011

ASB Action Net Award

The ASB team won an Action Net award for effective support for victims and witnesses, creative use of legal remedies, alternatives to legal action, and use of supportive interventions to assist perpetrators to change their behaviour.
